Small business

Microsoft 365, Entra ID and device management

The higher end of what Mayfair IT does, delivered on weekends so the cutover happens when nobody is working.

Projects handled

  • New tenant setup, domain verification and DNS
  • Mailbox migrations from IMAP, POP, Google Workspace or an old Exchange server
  • SharePoint and OneDrive replacing a file server or a NAS in the corner
  • Entra ID groups, licensing and conditional access
  • MFA rollout, done in a way staff can actually follow
  • Intune and mobile device management for laptops and phones
  • Security hardening: legacy authentication, admin roles, sign-in risk and the settings that are still on their defaults
  • Onboarding and offboarding processes, so the next departure does not take a shared mailbox with it

Why weekends suit this work

Migrations, DNS changes and authentication rollouts are disruptive by nature. Doing them on a Saturday means the disruption lands when nobody is trying to send an email, and Monday morning looks normal. A weekday provider either does the same thing at a 30 to 60 percent loading or does it while your staff are working around it.

What it costs

Specialist and project work is $200 per hour. Wherever the scope is clear, it is quoted as a fixed price instead, so you know the total before it starts. Everyday Microsoft 365 administration, such as licences, shared mailboxes and new users, is ordinary business support at $150 per hour onsite or $99 remotely, not project work.

Full rates are on the pricing page.

Background

This is the day job. Monday to Friday, the person doing your migration administers Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Okta, Azure, Active Directory and Intune across roughly 40 sites nationally. The patterns that keep a large environment secure and tidy scale down well to a ten seat office, and most of them cost nothing beyond the time to set them up properly.

FAQ

Questions people ask

Will our email go down during a migration?

Not for long, and never during trading hours. The cutover is done on the weekend after a full sync, and the switch itself is usually minutes. Staff arrive Monday to the same mailbox in a new place, with a short note on anything that changed.

Do we need to buy new licences?

Only if you are missing something you need. Part of the job is checking what you already pay for. It is common to find a small business paying for licences nobody uses, or the wrong tier for what they actually do.

Can you work in our existing tenant?

Yes. Most projects start with a review of what is already there, and you get a written summary of what was found and what is recommended before any work is scoped.
