Small business

Small business IT support, Gold Coast

Ongoing help with the everyday things, plus the bigger jobs, delivered on weekends so your team is not sitting idle while it happens.

What this covers

Most of what a small business needs from IT is ordinary. Something broke this morning and it needs to work by Monday. That is the bulk of the work, and it includes:

  • Email that has stopped working, for one person or for everyone
  • Printers, scanners and scan to email
  • Setting up a new staff member with a laptop, a mailbox and the right access
  • Removing access properly when someone leaves
  • Shared drives, file access and permissions
  • Microsoft 365 administration, licences and shared mailboxes
  • Workstation and laptop problems
  • Software that will not install or update
  • Backups, including checking that restores actually work
  • Wi-Fi, firewalls and network gear
  • Line of business applications and the vendors behind them
  • The security basics: MFA, patching and endpoint protection

No contract, no minimum

Billed by the hour as you use it. Nothing locked in. If you want a fixed monthly arrangement later it can be discussed, but it is not the default and you will never be pushed towards one.

Many Gold Coast providers will only take you on as a managed services contract, and for a business of three or eight people that can mean paying every month for support you rarely use. This is the alternative for businesses too small to justify one.

What it costs

Business onsite work is $150 per hour, one hour minimum, then billed in 30 minute blocks. Remote support is $99 per hour. Project work such as migrations and cutovers is quoted as a fixed scope wherever possible so you know the number in advance.

A lot of business problems are solved remotely, which is cheaper and faster than a visit. If yours is one of them, you will be told that when you call. Full rates are on the pricing page.

Who you are actually dealing with

Mayfair IT is one person, and he is a working systems engineer. The weekday job is looking after roughly 40 sites across Australia on Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Okta, Azure, Active Directory, Meraki networking and mobile device management. Those are the same tools your business runs on, used every day at a scale most local providers never see.

The other difference is continuity. You deal with the same person every visit, someone who remembers how your network is set up and what was done last time, rather than whoever the franchise had free that day. More on the about page.

Bigger pieces of work

When you are ready for it, the higher end is available too. Neither is a starting point, and nobody will suggest a migration to fix a printer.

FAQ

Questions people ask

Do we need a contract?

No. Work is billed by the hour as you use it. If a fixed monthly arrangement suits you better later, it can be discussed, but it is not required and it is not the default.

Can you support us during the week?

Onsite visits are weekends only, because the weekday job is full time. Remote support is available after hours on weeknight evenings when needed. If your business needs someone on call at 10am on a Tuesday, say so and you will be told honestly whether this is the right fit.

We already have an IT provider. Can you still help?

Yes, and that is common. Plenty of businesses use Mayfair IT for the weekend cutover their regular provider will not do without a loading, or for a second opinion on a quote.

How do you handle our passwords and admin access?

Access is granted for the job and documented. Where a dedicated admin account is set up, it is yours, in your tenant, with credentials handed to you. Nothing is held that you cannot see or revoke.
